Fundamentals of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion program covers the essential elements of diversity and inclusion for leaders. It raises participants’ awareness of the critical drivers of inclusion through examining belief sets, stereotypes, and unconscious biases. Through practical exercises, the program looks at intersectionality to deepen participants understanding of the various aspects of diversity and the impact that power and privilege has on diverse groups. The program explores ‘micro-aggressions and micro-biases’, how they form and their impacts, including undermining an individual’s sense of belonging. We examine the essential evidence-based drivers of inclusion, including psychological safety as a key enabler, as well as how our biases impact us to unintentionally make assumptions about minority groups (including factors such as ethnicity, sexual orientation, and disability) and thereby exclude them. The program includes practical ways through which individuals can all contribute to building an inclusive culture and in which people feel comfortable to be ‘their authentic selves’ and have a sense of belonging and feel valued. The program addresses racism and provides strategies for being an effective ally, and for developing empathy across diverse experiences and perspectives.
